Writing is my protest

When I was in the 5th grade, I won a 1990 Sony Stereo System as the grand prize in an essay writing contest. My essay was on what Dr. Martin Luther King’s “ I Have a Dream Speech” meant to me. My win was big news in my small city of Hampton, Virginia and a part of my essay was shared in the city newspaper. This experience taught me the power of the written word as a young girl. And I have been writing ever since. Here is a collection of my most recent writings.
